Google Apps


With Google Apps, you can access your emails, calendar and documents from anywhere as long as there’s an internet connection. You can also use Google forms for surveys, Google chat for instant messaging and Google Hangouts for video conferencing.

Everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment and Blackpool Wyre & Fylde Council for Voluntary Service is no different. Project Manager Kim Wood decided to see what he could do to make savings and started to research tools that might help. He came across Google apps which had made a real impact on the way he and his team work.

OneDrive is a cloud storage facility, similar to Dropbox, iCloud, etc. letting you store files that can be accessed from any computer in the world with internet connection.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a powerful tool that enables you to see what is happening on your website or social media platforms. You can easily create reports to find out how many people are using your site what they are looking at and where they are coming from.
Vicky from UK online centres uses Google Analytics to get a view of how the organisation's websites are being used, and where improvements can be made. Here she tells us why it's so useful.

Google alerts

Google Alerts enables you to create email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your own queries.
Vicky from UK online centres recommends using Google Alerts to find out what others are saying about your organisation online, and to find out about what's happening that's relevant to you.


Batchgeo loves maps, and believes they should be easy to make. It's the fastest way to create Google maps from your data. It accepts addresses, towns, cities, regions, and post codes. Batchgeo does the hard work of figuring out where all your data lives in the real world.

I have used it to promote discussions and the great thing about piratePad is that you don’t need an account and you don’t have to login.

Golden Giving is a donation and fundraising website that is free to use for both charities and fundraisers.

The National Children’s Tumour Leukaemia and Cancer Trust needed an easy online way to collect donations and to help their fundraisers do the same.


Helping you to listen to others, Wufoo will help you create online surveys. When you design a form with Wufoo, it automatically builds you a database, and collects your data in a way that makes it easy to understand and analyse. You can build tables, graphs and charts, surveys and securely share the results.
