Janet from NCTLC Trust uses Golden Giving to maximise donations

The National Children’s Tumour Leukaemia and Cancer Trust needed an easy online way to collect donations and to help their fundraisers do the same. Janet from NC TLC tells us why she chose Golden Giving to do the job.
Tell us a bit about yourself. (Your job, organisation, and your technical ability!)
NC TLC Trust is the National Children’s Tumour Leukaemia and Cancer Trust, dedicated to supporting families living with childhood cancers. We provide a practical and emotional support for the families from the point of diagnosis. The charity was set up by families undergoing treatment in Northamptonshire and surrounding areas and is unique in that it’s run by likeminded people supporting each other and forming new friendships along the way. We give practical advice and support to families. As a charity, we pay for the things the families cannot, such as wigs for teenage girls. We provide financial help towards the high costs of hospital visits, ie parking costs and accommodation. We also offer holidays in our charity caravan in East Sussex. NCTLC Trust also offers a support network of other families going through similar situations and provide counselling and psychotherapy by a qualified Family Support Worker.
Why did you look for this tool in the first place? What did you need help with?
As a charity, we rely solely on donations from sponsors and the general public. Finances can be very limited, especially during these tough times, therefore fundraising sites the tools to raise money more effectively. The majority of the fundraising sites, although implying that they are free, charge charities monthly fees for their facilities, or set-up costs, together with fees deducted from donations and Gift Aid. Golden Giving does not charge charities or donors any subscriptions, set-up fees, or commission. Golden Giving is 100% free, allowing NC TLC Trust funding to solely go to help families affected with childhood cancer.
How did you find out about the tool?
Through a meeting with a fundraiser, we researched it and joined. The Golden Giving team has a personal approach - they have come and met us, providing us with the most efficient bespoke solution for our charity, which is why we use them.
What is this tool mainly used for?
This tool helps support charities with fundraising, freeing them to focus on front line causes, rather than business administration and technical integration.
